With profound sadness and heartfelt sympathy, we honor the life of Craig John Gensler, age 55, of Marinette, Wisconsin, who passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous ten-month battle with cancer.
Craig was born on December 4, 1970, in Marinette, Wisconsin, to the late John and Barbara (Donaldson) Gensler. He graduated from Marinette High School in the Class of 1989 and later attended NWTC, earning an Associate Degree in Fire Protection Engineering Technology. On March 15, 2008, he married Rebecca Dellisse at The Four Seasons Resort in Pembine, Wisconsin, beginning a devoted partnership that lasted 18 years. He worked as a Chemical Lab Technician at Johnson Controls until his illness required him to step away from his career.
Craig was a passionate sports fan who loved the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers, Milwaukee Bucks, and especially the Milwaukee Brewers. He enjoyed attending games when possible and never missed major golf tournaments. He was a longtime member of Little River Golf Course, where he spent countless hours enjoying league play, scrambles, and weekend rounds with friends. He also participated in softball leagues in Peshtigo and Marinette and bowled in local leagues at Dome Lanes.
Known for his sharp mind and quick wit, Craig loved trivia and had an extraordinary ability to recall random facts. He could identify songs, artists, and titles within seconds—especially 1980s rock. He was also highly tech-savvy and often helped others troubleshoot problems with ease. Above all, Craig had a deep love for dogs and shared a special bond with his canine companion, Winston, who remained by his side throughout his illness.
Craig will be remembered as a loyal friend, a loving husband, and a man with a kind heart and protective spirit. Though his circle was small, his relationships were deeply meaningful and lasting.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca; his brother Jeffrey Gensler; his in-laws Jim and Marie Dellisse; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jim and Jodie Dellisse; nieces Paige Korthuis and Holly Dellisse; nephew Jimmy Dellisse; and many other relatives and friends, including close friends Dan and Stacey Hanley.
Visitation will be held at Cadieu Funeral Home on Thursday, July 9, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at 6:30 p.m., with Pastor Scott Ehle officiating.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Jeffrey Kittel, Dr. Alimpertis, Aurora Cancer Care, and Aurora Wound Clinic staff for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Emergency Rescue Squad, Inc. Attendees are encouraged to wear casual attire and favorite team colors or hats in Craig’s honor.
