Motorists traveling along the M1 motorway are experiencing significant delays following a series of traffic collisions that have disrupted traffic flow and prompted a large-scale emergency response. The most serious collision occurred on the northbound carriageway between Junctions 20 and 21, where all lanes were temporarily closed to allow police, firefighters, ambulance crews, and recovery teams to respond. The northbound entry slip road at Junction 19 has also been closed, further impacting traffic and contributing to extensive congestion throughout the area.
Additional disruption has been reported on the southbound carriageway between Junctions 22 and 21A, where another collision resulted in the closure of the hard shoulder and two of the three running lanes.
